Shortly after 10 o'clock on the morning of November 20th, the first wave of paratroopers began Operation Castor, the occupation of Dienbienphu.

November 22nd: Cogny is shown the new encampment at Dienbienphu by Gilles (right), who is about to depart.

Gilles's replacement, Castries, explains to Cogny: "We'll demolish the Viets when they come down from the hills."
