EXPOSE IT

Bring it into the light of truth by confessing it to God and friends. When you bring sin into the light of truth, three powerful things happen. 1. The cleansing process begins and it’s thorough. 2. You realize you’re not alone/not the only one. 3. You live in authentic community and are freed from shame and isolation.

Look at the powerful effect of the confession of sin—exposing it gives us a new connection with God and people.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:7–9)

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. (James 5:16a)
