Destrawn couldn’t remember the last time he’d ended up answering so many prying questions.

Peering around at all the sleeping vampires in the front room, Destrawn shook his head. He knew they hadn’t drank enough tequila to actually pass out from it, but that, combined with the late hour, had Sorbin’s three friends zonked out on the sofas and chairs.

“Sorry about all that,” Sorbin murmured, coming up behind him and wrapping his arms around his waist. “Thank you for handling their curiosity so well.”

Shrugging, Destrawn turned as he replied, “They’re your friends.” He wrapped his arms around Sorbin and peered into his mate’s pale-blue eyes.

Sorbin smiled up at him, the lines around his mouth betraying his fatigue. “When I get to your clutch, am I going to go through an inquisition from some of your friends?”

Destrawn shook his head. “No. I don’t really have friends there, per se.” Seeing Sorbin’s frown and scenting his confusion, he admitted, “As second of a recuperating clutch, I haven’t gotten close to anyone but the inner circle. They won’t question you about your suitability to stay with me.” Smirking, Destrawn told him, “Hell, they’ll probably be giving you advice on how to tolerate my demanding nature.”

Rolling his eyes, Sorbin claimed, “I’m sure I can handle it.”

Chuckling, Destrawn nodded. “I’m certain you can.”

Then Destrawn lowered his head and sealed his lips over Sorbin’s own. He teased them apart with his tongue before delving inside. Tasting tequila, spicy hot wings, potato skins, cinnamon twists, and underneath that, his vampire’s unique masculine flavor, Destrawn relished the opportunity to just explore and savor.

In the past, Destrawn had always used kissing as a means to an end. He’d used it to arouse a lover or seduce someone. Now he did it simply because he enjoyed sharing the activity with his mate.

Destrawn felt Sorbin sway a little and eased the kiss to an end. Seeing the glazed look on his vampire’s face, he grinned. He knew part of that was from fatigue. His hard-working tracker was far from recovered.

Deciding he knew the perfect way to put Sorbin to bed, Destrawn wrapped his arm around his vampire’s waist. He guided him into the bedroom, closing the door behind them. Pausing beside the bed, he pulled Sorbin’s clothes from his body.

After pulling the comforter back down, Destrawn helped Sorbin onto the mattress. He made a mental note to discover where his mate kept his sheets another time. Right then, he had something else on his mind.

Climbing onto the bed beside Sorbin, Destrawn buried his face in his vampire’s crotch. He inhaled deeply, nuzzling his nose against the man’s half-hard prick. His delicious aroma immediately caused Destrawn’s blood to fire, and his cock thickened behind his loincloth.
