They rode in silence for nearly twenty minutes. The storm pelted rain, so Vanessa chose silence rather than to distract Dion as he focused on the roads. The quiet also gave her time to calm down her hormones. Something extremely hard to do when the effects of Dion’s touch and kisses lingered long after he’d pulled away. The spot on her neck where he’d sucked throbbed, her breasts ached, her panties were wet.

She shifted in the seat and darted another glance in his direction. His hands clenched the steering wheel. He focused on the road ahead of him. They were now entering town and leaving the bumpy dirt roads behind. Thankfully, the storm was letting up.

She wanted to know his thoughts. He had to be thinking about that kiss just as much as she was. There was no way he could kiss her like that and not think about it. The man had unhooked her bra in record time and with ease.

Her eyes narrowed and she glanced at him again. Why did he know how to unhook a bra so easily? Dion came across as the responsible, good guy of the three brothers. Not that good guys didn’t unhook bras, but he’d done it with efficiency. Was he all nice and noble on the surface but an expert with his hands in the bedroom?

Warmth spread across her cheeks, chest and midsection. That was not the right place to let her thoughts go. The idea of Dion being a low-key sex god was too tempting. She looked at his hands on the steering wheel and imagined them going across her skin, cupping her breasts, sliding between her legs.

“What’s wrong?” Dion’s tight words snapped her out of the fantasy.

Vanessa blinked and cleared her throat. She looked out the front windshield and shook her head. “Nothing.”

He was quiet for several seconds before he shifted. His fingers tightened on the steering wheel. “So, what happened?”

“What do you mean what happened?” she asked in a rush. Did he want some rational explanation for why she’d kissed him? Because, she didn’t have one.

“At the house? Before you fell through the stairs.” A touch of humor entered his voice with the last part.

Now that the immediate shock was over, it was slightly humorous. Her shoulders relaxed. “Nothing happened. I looked around downstairs. Saw the trash people left behind but that was the scariest thing there. I wanted to check out the upstairs quickly before the storm came through and... Well, my foot went through the stairs.”

He shook his head. “People don’t go upstairs,” he said as if she should know that.

“Why not?”

“For one, the stairs aren’t safe.” He gave her a told-you-so side-eye. “You have to be very careful going up and know where to put your foot.”

She rolled her eyes. He could have told her that yesterday. “What else?”

“What else what?”

“You said for one. Is there another reason?”

He lifted a shoulder. “Most of the bad encounters happen upstairs. It’s one of the reasons people don’t go up.
