I got my safe from Safes Direct which you should be able to find at www.stacksilvergetgold.com/safesdirect and my particular safe is called a “Jewel Vault TL-30”. Jewel Vault also makes other safes such as the TL-15 or the TL30X6. These safes are thick and strong with huge locking bolts. They also have a feature that includes inner dual plates of tempered glass that activate two randomly located relocking devices in the event of a burglary attempt. I paid about $1800 for my safe. You don’t need to go this crazy with your safes though; any safe will do as long as it’s secure and well-hidden.

Depending on the amount of gold and silver you store at home, a good safe can cost anywhere from $500 to $100,000 or more. You can find a good “used” safe on Craigslist or eBay. I said earlier, it is a good idea to keep your safe out of sight. Put it in the floor and put a piece of furniture over it. Google “floor safes” or “hidden safe” and you’ll find many different ways to hide your safe.

At the very least, get one of my favorite “book safes” for your first 300 ounces of metal. This will do just fine; surely some of the last things a burglar looks at are your reading materials!
