CHAPTER SIXTEEN

NICK

The mission to get Oscar laid for his birthday is back on track.

Luke, Matt, and I didn’t have much to do with our time other than obsess about how Oscar might be getting along with Maddi, before, during, or after the game.

The whole idea had been to get him hooked up for his birthday. Although we’d successfully got him a date, we were still concerned that he might fuck it up rather than end up fucking. He was a bit too far out on the nerdy scale when it came to human interaction.

People tended to follow a particular set of directions when leaving the Argonauts Arena. After the game, the look of surprise on Maddi’s face when they turned a corner and saw us was a picture.

Oscar didn’t look too pleased, but Maddi beamed.

And they both looked bewildered at seeing us there and then.

“Hey there, Oscar, Maddi, how the hell are you doing?” Luke called out, as if it were mere coincidence, us running into them like that.

It was not.

We were obsessed with this girl.

I loved Oscar like a brother, but tracking him down (stalking him) wasn’t a thing we’d normally do. We four guys had downloaded the friend’s tracking ap years ago, and it was hand for finding each other when we needed to.

“Luke? Uh...” Oscar was just as surprised as Maddi was. “How long have you been hanging out here?”

“Just about fifteen minutes. We waited for the game to end and hoped to give you a hearty hello as you came out. It’s lucky, really, as it would’ve been easy to miss you in the crowd,” I answered as we approached the couple.

Yeah, lucky we all had accepted that friends’ tracking app on our phones.

While I was speaking, Luke got to Maddi first and gave her a big affectionate hug. Affectionate, yes, but there was no kissing, and to all the world, it could have looked as innocent as any brother greeting his beloved sister.

Well, I wasn’t her brother, but I wasn’t about to step on Oscar’s toes either, so I hung back with Matt.

Matt surprised me by speaking up when he was the reluctant one of the three of us. We’d dragged him along. “We’re going to get a bite to eat, do you guys want to join us?” he asked.

Maddi and Oscar exchanged glances along with huge grins. They were getting along swimmingly and didn’t need our help, which was a relief.

“If you saw what went in Maddi’s mouth earlier, you’d understand why we’ll pass on the food.”

At this, Maddi playfully punched Oscar in the ribs. “What he says is true, but it’s not how it sounded.”

“Are you gonna deny the mess on your chin that you slowly licked off earlier?” he teased.

The three of us shared confused looks. Although I’m sure the comment conjured up a sexy memory for Luke as it did for me.

Okay, guys. You know when a couple doesn’t need some extra friends to help them along.

“We’ll see you around,” I said.
