Chapter Four
#AugustFamily
Today is the first day of August, Matthew was on nurse duty again. Jonathan was supposed to come home from Appalachian Outreach at two p.m., but he decided to stay there all day and go to the lake with his friends. Memer went to the family reunion in Kentucky and she stopped by on her way home. She brought us some barbeque for dinner from the reunion which was an answer to prayer for us. The Lord has touched so many different people to provide food for our family over the past few months. I am really amazed at how much He loves us. The Scripture really is true about not worrying about what you eat or drink; He cares for the birds of the field and how much more does He care for us.
Matthew and Sophia went to a family fun night at Heritage Church which I am so glad. Matthew has served me consistently for months, and it is time for him to have some fun. Memer went and picked up Jonathan for us from Carson Newman. We got him home and then he remembered that he forgot his suit in the closet in his dorm room. So he and David jumped into the car so that they could retrieve the rest of his clothes.
The next morning, I was pondering on this crazy season. My leg spasms and I just can’t find a comfortable position. I often wonder if I will ever walk again. It’s a thought that continues to linger on my mind and haunt me.
Every day that I am at therapy, I look over at all the equipment on the other side of the room and watch people walking and using treadmills, and the bikes. Then I look at myself, doing butt squeezes, leg squeezes, and leg lifts. My muscles feel like they have disappeared. My legs look like skin and bones.
Lord God, help me to find hope in the midst of this season I am in. I need some encouragement, because I am exhausted from no sleep and constant pain. I need a break here. I need you to come and defend me or heal me or give me the grace to endure this season. In my weakness, be strong in me. Amen
My Facebook Post August 2, 2015
“It's a real special person who gives up Sunday time at church to stay with me week after week. Thank you Lizard for standing by my side for this whole ordeal.
I have needed to have committed long term kind of people to still keep coming and helping. I know you’re my sister, but you are also my dear friend. I love you!” #sittinbyfaith
“Jonathan, Matthew, get up! Today is the day! I miss Lizzie so bad and can’t wait to wrap my arms around her,” I said.
“Mom, it is so early. Why are you so chipper this morning?” Matthew said as he retrieved my wheelchair for me.
“I am headed to get my girl!”
We picked up Sophia on the way to the Knoxville airport.
