Chapter Six

In front of Aspen stood the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, finally free of the bunches of tulle and satin that had hidden her from his gaze like a wedding veil on a virgin’s wedding day. From head to two, Eleanor was the most gorgeous woman he’d seen in his life, from her soft, curly hair, to her ample breasts, the soft curve of her waist, and the hips that spread out and led to luscious thighs.

Aspen’s bear roared: of course Eleanor was gorgeous, they’d known that from the first night by the lake, but modest Eleanor had never shown off her curves and there was no way that the man or the bear would have guessed she’d have such massive breasts and a set of hips perfect for making shifter babies. The dress had slimmed down her curves rather than accentuate them, and she looked much better with the gown off than she had with the gown on.

“So?” asked Eleanor, shifting, holding one elbow behind her with her other hand, stiffening her usually soft and rounded shoulders, her body tense with nervousness regarding her body. “What do you think?” The bear hadn’t said a word to her since she’d stripped down, just sat on the bed, looking her over with a hunger she could see in its eyes.

The sound of Eleanor’s voice broke Aspen out of his hungry trance. “Ella, you’re an amazing woman...and right when I think I’ve met the most beautiful woman in the world, you go and pull this trick on me,” said Aspen. “I never thought you could look even more amazing than the image I had of you in my head, but I never thought that you’d be absolutely perfect in every way.”

Aspen held a hand out to Eleanor and pulled her close so that the nude woman was standing in front of him and he could run his hands over her every curve. “It’s just my luck you’re single, too,” said Aspen. “A woman like you, in a big city teeming with shifter men...I would’ve thought you’d been snatched up years ago. You’re amazing, Ella, and I can only hope that I’m half as attractive to you as you are to me.”

Eleanor ran a hand over Aspen’s shoulders, looking at the mate mark and biting her lip before looking into Aspen’s eyes. “Aspen...can I touch your mate mark?” she asked.

“Of course,” said Aspen. “I want you to, Eleanor.” Aspen pressed Eleanor’s hand to the mate mark and Eleanor fingered the mark, starting with the scrollwork, tracing with only one fingers up and down Aspen’s broad chest.

Aspen held back the bear in him which was telling him to take Eleanor and push her down on the bed and take her: Ella had accepted his mate mark, and thus, his bear, but Aspen kept still, as if he was being approached by a doe in a meadow. The physical feeling of Ella’s fingertips over his chest was soft but the emotional feeling was
