Ineed to let off steam, and it isn’t something I can just fuck out of me with Jonah. The others haven’t taken that step with me yet again, so they aren’t even options.

Walking through the house, I hear Zion’s bike starting in the garage, and I take off in that direction, hoping to catch him before he leaves.

Throwing the door open, his head snaps up as he smiles at me. “Hey, Paise.” He takes in the sight of my tear strewn face. “What’s wrong?”

He rushes to my side and cups the sides of my face. Shaking my head, I avert my eyes from his, not wanting to see the pity.

“I went to see Cade, and it didn’t exactly go the way I hoped.” I wipe my tears, sniffling. “It’s fine. Maybe we aren’t meant to bond.”

He wraps his arms around me, pulling me into his chest as he rests his chin on the top of my head. I breathe in the smell of old books and relax slightly, comforted by the scent of my sweet and gentle Alpha.

“I don’t know what he said, but I do know that he’s a fucking idiot for it,” he whispers before pulling away. “You want me to kick his ass?”

I laugh and throw my head back. As he chuckles, he wipes the tears from my face and places a kiss on my forehead. “As tempting as that is, no. I just need to distract myself for now.”

He looks down at me with a distraught expression but only presses his lips into a flat line, nodding his head once. Looking up at the bike that’s still running, he motions. “I was heading out to meet up with Ryan and Jonah. Wanna come?”

“Where are we going?” I ask immediately, and a smile grows on his face as he grabs my helmet and hands it to me.

“The gym. Jonah mentioned being interested in fighting, and that piqued Ryan’s interest like no other.” He throws his leg over the bike, and I follow, no longer needing to be coaxed into wrapping myself around him. “You know, you started up a real bromance between those two.”

I start to laugh when images of my first night with Ryan and Jonah come flooding back—how Jonah submitted to Ryan’s more dominant tendencies, something the others have never been completely capable of doing.

Zion laughs. “If your perfuming is anything to go off of, maybe it isn’t just a bromance.”

I roll my eyes and shake my head. “You’re one to talk.”

Before he drives off, he turns his head to the side and shrugs. “What can I say? You know just as well as I do that Holden’s cock is irresistible.”
