Follow the Holy Spirit’s Leading

The greatest deliverance you will ever receive is deliverance from yourself.

Now what do I mean by that statement? I'm talking about getting into God's will. It is wonderful to be born again and set free from bondage to sin and Satan. But after that, you must keep yourself delivered. And many times the thing you need deliverance from most is your own self. That is, the power of your own mind.

You see, Satan is a liar and a deceiver. He knows that we want to follow the leadership of God's Holy Spirit, so he speaks to us in our minds just as the Holy Spirit does. When God tells us something, the devil speaks up inside to "warn" us not to listen. That's why it is so important to be able to distinguish between the voice of the Lord and the voice of the liar!

Move When the Waters Are Troubled

One evening when Charles Capps spoke in our church, I knew the Holy Ghost wanted me to minister in tongues, interpretation and prophecy before I introduced Charles. But I didn't want to do that. Why? Because when you have a quality man like Charles Capps who is the head of as large and valuable a ministry as his, naturally you don't want to do anything to cause him a delay. You just want to say a few words of introduction and then turn the service over to him to minister as he feels led of the Lord.

Unless the waters are troubled, that is. Now what do I mean? I mean that down in my spirit I could sense that the Holy Spirit wanted me to do something. I've been working for the Lord a long time now, and I know His voice when I hear it. I also know that I need to obey that voice. Ultimately I'm not responsible to a church or a denomination or even to a guest speaker. I am responsible to the Lord to do as He tells me to do.

So although it was hard for me to delay Brother Charles, I did as the Lord instructed. I spoke in tongues and the interpretation came. The Spirit ministered to several people in the meeting. The angels of the Lord ministered to the people as I gave them leave to do so by being obedient to the leading of the Spirit of God. As a result, I was blessed along with those people because of my obedience. I believe Brother Charles also was blessed.

Let the Spirit Lead

There is a difference between obeying God by ministering as the Holy Spirit gives you direction and just doing something because you want to do it. The difference is the anointing. Many times when people speak in tongues and give the interpretation, they are actually operating under a familiar spirit which makes them feel "religious." They are not under direct orders from God Himself. When you are operating in the power of the Holy Spirit, you don't
