Is that a radiant glow about Raptrix this morning? It’s hard to describe exactly, but in the bright sunlight poking through the trees above to where she clings to a branch on a small, thick bush, her green thorax and abdomen sparkle in a way I’ve never seen before.

Can it be that I satisfied my love’s every desires last night and she basks today in that lingering satisfaction, as I still glow in mine?

What else can it be? Can there be any doubt that we are meant for each other?

I will admit that after our lovemaking was over last night I barely escaped her clutches. I almost became her second meal. But I was quick, a second blessing to being small. And I am sure she attempted to devour me only out of reflex. As she becomes accustomed to our love and the satisfactions of our passions, I am sure she will first suppress and then totally disavow herself of that base instinct. After the consummation of our love, we will bask in its glow.

Together. Always.

And so I scurry down the stem of my fern to the bed of leaves below where Raptrix, my beloved, my most wondrous lover, awaits.

I am sure that today, and every future day with her, will be even better than the day before.
