Focus points
Writing is a highly effective method of communication whereby you can reach out and engage a whole range of readers and persuade them to focus on your message.
When writing persuasively we need to keep the reader firmly in our thoughts. Who are they? What would appeal to them? What type of words would they use?
There are a number of particular types of reader and categorizing them in this way can help the writer to focus more clearly and therefore change style to meet each need.
There is so much information around that we need to make our message stand out. We need to start off with impact to catch the readerâs attention. This does not have to be an outrageous statement; it can be impact from colour or a lack of wording too.
Keep your message simple. You do not need convoluted or tricky wording; a simple message well thought through can be just as effective. Use this with other techniques such as grouping words and using familiar phrases and keep it consistent. You may be building a brand without realizing it!
