Now that the AOI is completed, we can use the AOI in the main program. To do this all that is required is to call the instruction in a routine and create a proper tag that goes with the AOI. For our example, we will create a tag with the data type Industrial_Doors. Our example is a fairly simple one, but it still requires two bits of information to pass into the AOI and two bits of information to pass from the AOI to the rest of the program. For the AOI, we are going to pass in a garage door open request and a garage door close request tag. The bits of information passed to the main program are to tell the garage door motor when to open and when to close. The controls are shown below.
