At seven-fifteen, the doorbell rang. Corit chuckled. “I’ll get it.”

She kept writing, and when she heard male voices speaking, she tuned them out. In a rush of typing, she finished the chapter and sighed.

She heard talking and looked around. The voices were coming from the kitchen. Jen got up and walked to the doorway, and Corit and Day-ek were poring over a notepad and making a pros and cons list.

She tiptoed past them and was nearly to the coffee pot before she felt an arm around her waist and she was being pulled into a familiar lap. She blushed and then blushed again when Day-ek kissed her. His hand stayed at her waist, and she gasped and shivered as his lips coaxed her into full participation.

When she had flicked her tongue along his, he gentled the kiss and backed away, kissing her lips and then her forehead as he held her against him.

“So, Dawning Claw has an excellent sponsorship program, but Sprouting Tusk has more professionals in their ranks.”

She looked at them, and they were discussing the pros and cons of the clans. She snuggled into Day-ek’s arms. He was doing what he said he would. He was showing Corit his options.

Corit smiled. “Which one has better clan tattoos?”

“Sprouting Tusk. Definitely. Personal opinion.”

Corit looked at the facial markings that Day-ek wore. “Noted.”

She sat cuddled against Day-ek for another five minutes, and both acted as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

His body heat made her drowsy, and she jerked upright. His voice was next to her ear. “Didn’t get enough sleep?”

Corit sighed. “She was up with me most of the night. I was... upset yesterday.”

“Ah, right. How are you feeling today?”

Corit looked at them. “Highly amused.”

She sighed. “Yeah, I am going to be hearing about this for a while.” She wrapped her arms around Day-ek as far as they would go. “May as well go for broke.”

He hugged her, and they continued their conversation for another ten minutes when a vehicle pulled up out front. There was a knock at the door, and Corit grinned. “I’ll get it.”

He let in Reymark and Jennor in his smaller form. He was still six and a half feet tall, but he was definitely smaller than normal. His horns were stubby.

She had her face buried in Day-ek’s chest, the black fabric and vest in the way of his yummy skin.

Fingers rubbed her cheek, and she turned her face to see the scarlet eyes and sharp black features of Reymark. “Hi, sweetie. Can I get a hello kiss?”

She held onto her orc as she leaned toward the monster. His lips met with hers, and she sighed softly as they kissed, and shadows delicately touched her face and hair. It was very uncharacteristic of him. He slowly withdrew, and she opened her eyes to see a soft expression on his features.

She was feeling warm and relaxed. She said, “Hello.”

He smiled and stroked her cheek. “Oh, that is a sweet face.” He flicked a glance of Corit.
