Two Particularly Useful Interventional Modalities
Imaging Techniques
A technique of overcoming block involves imaging, where an OCPD might see block as a rock in a stream, the rock rerouting the path of the water flow, and see overcoming block as the process of getting a piece of heavy equipment to remove the stone and allow the creative stream to “flow again.”
Pharmacotherapy
Pharmacotherapy can be useful for treating the depressive, anxious, and phobic components that are prominent in some individuals blocked due to OCPD. A risk is that pharmacotherapy can sometimes negatively affect an OCPD’s creativity by having unwelcome side effects that can lead to or enhance, rather than reduce, anxiety, thereby interfering with functionality.
