A few years ago, my wife bought a white love seat to go in the room with the white carpet in our house. I should tell you we didn’t put in the white carpet; it was the lovely decision of the childless couple that occupied the residence prior to us. My wife justified buying the white love seat because it was so cheap that it would have been poor stewardship not to buy it. So we had a white couch on white carpet. Maybe your parents had a room like this at home. A room that is only used by certain people on special occasions. As a result, my wife laid down the law and made sure that the kids knew they were not allowed in the “White Room.” It seemed to be working fine, until one day my wife was straightening up in that room and discovered a secret that someone had been keeping. She happened to flip over one of the couch cushions and there was a stain. She called me into the room and showed me the pink fingernail polish blotched on the white cushion. She wasn’t happy. We called our girls into the room. She had the cushion flipped back over so you couldn’t see the stain. The interrogation was about to begin, but as I reached toward the cushion to expose the stain, my middle daughter Morgan cracked. Like many of us would, she turned and ran up the steps.
