A community business model relies on user contributions. We see this a lot with YouTube content creators and Twitch streamers â they encourage their viewership for tips or payments through Patreon or donation tools. Another way to mobilize the community is to sell ancillary products (i.e., swag) or to engage with sponsored ad content.
How this might look in the metaverse:
Influencers: Well-known users and personalities will rise in the metaverse â users who make viral content or know the ins and outs of a dApp. Just think of content creators and influencers we see making seven figures on social media today. These people (or brands) will be in a powerful position to promote otherâs products or push their own products in the metaverse.
Artists: An artist could be a merchandiser, but we think there's an opportunity for digital artists to activate the metaverse community to build a brand that could lead to any number of opportunities. They could further a cause, establish business partnerships, or simply tap into a passionate community for NFT sales.
Networking and Closed Clubs: Because community is at the heart of metaverse applications, there may end up being quite a demand for exclusive, VIP groups. We're already seeing this with the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Connecting in the metaverse could become the new business handshake.
Sponsored Communities: There are plenty of brands creating platforms for their followers to get together. These followers might share tips or even try to sell their wares, but the key is that when this happens in a brand's digital venue there are plenty of opportunities to develop brand or product ambassadors.
