Cappadocia City is in Central Turkey and is home to no less than thirty underground cities. And I literally mean cities. They had living quarters, stables, wineries, etc. Only ten percent of it is accessible to mortals, so it’s a vampire’s dream residence. It was magicked so only the children of Cain could enter, so no anarch flesh shapers to deal with, except for Vlad, but he was a lot more than that, having drained a few other elders and absorbing their powers, plus he was a direct descendent.

Within minutes of arriving, the boys had me in pajamas, under the covers, and asleep. Okay, it sounds better than it was, because I was yelling and cussing. Quill eventually had to work his sleep powers on me, but it had the same result. I was out like a light.

When I awoke, I was alone in the enormous king-sized four-poster bed. That in itself was weird. The guys usually refused to let me sleep alone. I got up and saw a pair of shorts, a t-shirt and some tennis shoes waiting with a note: Put this on. I glared for a second, then thought about it. This wasn’t how they usually dressed me. I changed and realized the t-shirt was lilac with mouse ears and the words “Princess” and “Borgia Family Vacation” on it. I shook my head. What the hell were they up to?

I flung open the door to be greeted by the smell of bacon. That gave me a small smile. Things were looking up. I followed the smell to a gourmet kitchen with all the modern conveniences. “How?” I looked around, “Cappadocia City is underground and ancient.”

Cesare glanced up from his paper. “You’d be surprised at what Nosferatu can figure out, Cara. I see you found the clothes.”

“Why didn’t you put shirts on?” Both Cesare and Quill were in jeans, but no shirts.

“Because you like us this way. We thought it would put you in a more amiable state of mind,” smiled Quill and he set a plate down, “Now eat. Cesare negotiated how we’re handling this. I agreed to give his way a try. We leave in twenty minutes.”

I cautiously sat down. “You can cook?”

“We both can.” Quill picked up a cup of something and sipped. “When you’re alive a long time, you pick up hobbies. A lot of them, and you do them until you’re an expert.”

“Then why does Merle do all the cooking?” I glanced at Cesare, “And why couldn’t you find the pots after the Korkak fiasco?”

“I didn’t want to,” Cesare shrugged. “I told you I could warm milk and add chocolate. I decided my attention needed to be on you, not a pot.” He raised a brow. “No sign of Izzy?”

“Not yet,” I muttered, looking down. “Am I going insane?”

“No, and we’re putting a pin in that issue for now. We’ll worry about it later or if she shows up again,” Cesare said, then tapped at my plate. “Eat.”

I took a bite, then smiled. “This is good.
