Figure 7 illustrates one approach that economists use to calculate the directions of change for the macro measures and identify which are macro business risks. The calculations are based on the previously calculated expected macro outcomes for the 4-condition case (figure 6) and the standards as specified above. The key calculation is the direction of change. In this case, it is calculated as the difference between the expected macro outcome and a standard.
