M.C.202AS/CB

From the XI Series onwards, the Macchi M.C.202 could become AS/CB, ie Bomber-Hunting, with two wing attacks for bombs of 50, 100, or 160 kg, or 100 or 150 liter (rarely used) auxiliary tanks. The attacks were actually mounted on very few aircraft.

The Thunderbolt MM.91974 - tested on 12 May 1943 - was equipped with two sub-aircraft gondolas for 20 mm Mauser MG 151/20 aircraft guns with 200 rounds per weapon. Four other examples were made, but the Italian pilots, who had already rejected the 7.7-mm Breda-SAFATs in the wings, due to the weight increase, did not sufficiently appreciate the innovation.
