Chapter Nine

I was going to call Amy, but I didn’t get time. She always said I could come and get Matt at breakfast, including when I had called her after work and asked if she could watch Matt again. Of course, she agreed. I told myself not to worry as I squeezed myself into the dress I had worn to go hear Neil Gaiman do a reading and almost believed it as Kingsley drove us to his place in his sports car.

I could hardly believe how he looked. Different but the same. Older but not much as well as sexier. Maturity evened out his features and gave him a nearly square jaw. Put him in an over coat and a fedora and he could have been a 1940s detective.

I wondered if my mind went there because our first date after officially becoming a couple in grade 11 was an art house double feature of Bande à Part and Breathless. We hadn’t had sex at that point, but even so, the connection between us was apparent, sending out its charge every time our hands touched while reaching for the popcorn.

His condo was even nicer than I imagined. I knew he probably had money and heard tell of the kind of property available if one was willing to pay for it, even on the limited real estate of Manhattan. Detached homes and even brownstones were far more common in the burrows or upstate.

Kingsley got out first and came around the front to open my door for me, extending a hand as he did so. I trembled even at that gentle touch, wanting him more than I had ever wanted anything in my life. Especially when he lay his hand on the small of my back to guide me up to the main entrance.

“Would you like a drink?” he asked, removing my coat from my shoulders and hanging it up on the coat stand by the door.

“Bedroom,” I said. It was the only word I could get out.

Taking me by the hand, Kingsley led me up what turned out to be the first flight of stairs.

Kingsley took the lead, halting us in the middle of the stupendously large, impeccably clean bedroom and turning me toward him, his hands on my hips. Softly kissing me, he took down the straps of my dress, lowering the top section to my hips. I hadn’t worn a bra. It wasn’t really tenable with the design of the dress. Slowly, he worked his way from my lips, down my chin and along my neck.

His hands were already moving up from my hips to lightly cup my tits as his mouth worked its way down my chest. I let out a soft gasp as he finally took my rock-hard nipple into his wonderful mouth.

Taking the time and care to give my tits lots of tender love, he continued down my body, the lower part of my dress lowering along with him. Stopping at my pelvis, just above the waist
