Fit a new lock washer.

20.

Fit the outer lock nut and tighten to 61Nm (45lb ft).

21.

Bend the edges of the lock washer in so that it holds the inner and outer lock nuts.

22.

Fit a new gasket to the drive flange, refit and torque up the bolts.

23.

Refit the brake calliper and wheel.

Hub bearings, Discovery 2 On the Discovery 2 the hub bearings come as a complete new hub assembly. The good thing about this is that there is no grease and bearing preload set-up involved – you just bolt it on. The bad thing about it is the cost, but do not be tempted to buy a much cheaper non-genuine item; the bearings take huge forces and the assembly incorporates the ABS sensor and reluctor wheel. Cheap copies can result in early bearing failure and a variety of interesting ABS faults.
