Jangmunpo

Jangmunpo and Jisepo commanded a position in the north-west of Geoje Island. Each was built on a promontory that enclosed a harbour within a sheltered sea area protected to the west by Chilcheon Island. Jangmunpo to the south was the larger of the two. It consisted of a narrow L-shaped castle that followed the ridge with a separate castle below. Three walls ran down to the sea in a similar way to Ungcheon.

A view of Yeong Island from Busan Tower, showing the site of Bakmungu on the mainland. Bakmungu was built on the small flat area of derelict land near the modern bridge.
