I didn’t expect to be fucked up from seeing Ty, but I was. After spending years in prison, I didn’t think that too much out here in these streets could hurt me, but just that quick Ty had managed to get under my skin. I stayed busy in an effort not to think of her, and it worked until I had to see her face. I tried to analyze the situation and see if maybe I’d jumped the gun or over reacted, but I can’t stand to be lied to and the moment I start giving certain people passes on that I would be losing myself. Shorty was just so quiet and innocent acting I can’t believe that she was a damn pimp. I wonder if she had her friend Lisha working for her. I’m sure Lisha could make her a lot of money.
I shook off thoughts of Ty and headed to Starbucks to chill and get some writing done. I know what you thinking, but yeah gangstas go to Starbucks too. My days consisted of work and nothing more. If I wasn’t doing a show or networking I didn’t play the club or any other social scene. I had too much to do to be out here playing.
“Is this your charger?” A petite, brown-skinned female asked me as she stood at my table holding a black charger in her hand.
“Oh nah I didn’t bring my charger in here.” I politely stated.
“You alone?” She asked as I looked up at her and noticed that she had a nice smile. She was a cute female, but I wasn’t too fond of the aggressive type. It was my true opinion that the man is supposed to chase the woman. Not only that, I just wasn’t ready to move past Ty. I knew that we were a wrap, but I wasn’t ready to replace her just yet. I didn’t want to start anything new with anybody. One thing that I didn’t have time to do was waste time.
“Yeah I’m here alone.” I once again stated politely.
“You mind if I join you?” She asked flirtatiously.
“I’m really not trying to be rude, but I can’t be distracted. I really have a dead line to meet and there is no need for you to sit down if I’m gon’ ignore you, you know what I mean?” I looked up at her with a smile. I wasn’t trying to be an asshole about it but I wasn’t interested in getting to know each other over coffee. I was here for a change of scenery, nothing more.
Shorty looked slightly offended that I didn’t jump at her offer, but she responded well. “Ok cool. I don’t want to disturb you, I’m sorry.” She said sheepishly and walked off. I sat back in my seat. Maybe I was short changing myself by not getting to know anyone else. It’s not like I gave Ty years of my life. It didn’t work and it only lasted a short time, so why not get over it and move on.
