Chapter 11

Nacole

We sped down Broadway towards Southlake Mall following behind each other, passing by other cars. Allan led the pack, speeding, followed by Kool and Deshawn. We lucked up and found three parking spaces right by each other. All of us got out, snuggled up next to our men. I put my arm around Allan’s waist as we walked towards Khianna and Kamal as if nothing ever happened between us earlier. They were waiting out front just like she said they would be.

“Hey, y’all,” I said, giving Khianna a sisterly hug.

“You look so cute,” Khianna said, hugging me tight.

“So do you,” I complimented, admiring her body fitting dress.

Kamal smiled and said hi, but he seemed to have a lot on his mind so I just ignored his cold behavior. “I hope y’all haven’t been waiting long.”

I peeped it when Khianna rolled her eyes at Kamal, but I played that off too. “Nah, to be honest, we just got here five minutes ago.”

Everyone steeped inside trying to decide what we were going to see. All the girls wanted to see a love story. The guys wanted to see some an action-packed thriller. Finally, we all decided on a romantic comedy, which turned out to be a great choice. We stood in line getting refreshments before we went into the theater.

Allan put his arm around me. I nuzzled next to him sharing a bucket of popcorn. The movie seemed to have Allan’s undivided attention. We shared a few kisses in between laughter. It was good to see Allan enjoying himself. All I wanted was for him to be happy.

I decided to keep the baby and go to Indiana University Northwest. Then, I could be close to my man and we could raise our child. I hadn’t broke the news to him yet. I decided to wait until after graduation.

While Allan was laughing at the movie, I happen to look pass him and notice that Kool and Kandie were missing. “Babe, where is Kandie and Kool?”

Allan laughed hysterically as he stared at the movie screen. “Huh? What you say, Nikki?” He laughed some more. “This shit is hilarious.”

“I asked you where Kool and Kandie went?”

“Oh,” he said with a straight face. “Um, he looked over his shoulder. They said they’d be right back.”

“How long ago was that?” I asked.

“I don’t know, Nikki,” Allan said with an attitude. He looked over his shoulder again. “I’m not their keeper. Shit. They grown.”

I turned around and stared in the direction that he looked in. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. That’s when I saw them. It was obvious what they were doing. She was sitting on his lap with her skirt hiked up and her legs spread wide. Her movements were slow as she leaned her head back kissing Kool.

I turned back around disgusted. I saw enough. I wasn’t interested in the movie anymore. Kandie pissed me off. I couldn’t believe that they couldn’t wait until after the movie to do that.
