Chance stopped in his tracks as soon as the six men rose. He didn’t know what to expect, and neither did I.

“…Can I help you with something?” Greek asked, still seated.

If looks could kill, Chance would’ve murdered him a dozen times over. Turning on his heel, he headed back to our table, and slammed the bottle on top of it. “Get your shit. We’re leaving.”

“But, Chance—”

“I said let’s go!”

I hardly had time to grab my Michael Kors bag before he viciously snatched me out my seat. I almost tripped and fell in the process. A few people turned to look at us because of the ruckus. I had never been so humiliated in my life.

Valet quickly went to fetch our car as soon as we walked outside. It was like they could sense how anxious we were to leave.

All of a sudden, Greek stepped out with two of his men. “Chance, we gon’ handle this like grown men.”

“Greek, just let it go,” I said.

“Greek?” Chance looked at me like I was crazy. “You know the nigga’s name and everything, huh? And the mufucka know my gotdamn name. Why’s that? This the nigga you been layin’ up with?”

“If you got an issue, we can deal with it. Leave her out of it,” Greek said.

“Mothafucka, I’mma take my frustrations out on whoever the fuck I want to.”

Greek’s men stepped forward, but he quickly held his hand up to stop them.

Just then valet brought our car up. The timing couldn’t have been anymore perfect. “Get in the fuckin’ car, Fiona! I’m done going tit for tat with this clown.”

Greek stared at me intensely. I could see that he didn’t want me to go. He wanted me to leave with him, and I wanted the same thing… but I couldn’t bring myself to. Obligations and his wife kept me stagnant.

“Fiona, I said get in the fuckin’ car!” Chance snapped, impatiently. He hopped inside and slammed the door closed.

“You deserve happiness, Fiona,” Greek said.

“And I also deserved the truth…”

“If you give me a chance, I can make things right. I can make you happy.”

I had a choice to leave with either man. For some reason, I chose Chance. “…Goodbye, Greek.”

His jaw muscle tightened as I opened the passenger door and climbed inside. He couldn’t stand to see me leave with my boyfriend. At least now he knew how I felt.

Chance peeled off so hard that he burned rubber.

“So that’s who the fuck you been seein’? That black ass nigga? What? I ain’t got enough money or manpower for you?”

“Chance, please. Let’s just go home. I don’t wanna fight with you. You’re talking crazy and it ain’t even like that.”

Chance drove like a mad man through the streets of Atlanta. He was barely paying any attention to the road as he berated me. “Answer the mothafuckin’ question, Fiona!”

“Chance, watch the road! You’re gonna wreck!”

“IS YOU FUCKIN’ THAT NIGGA?” he screamed. His hands were on the steering wheel but his eyes were locked on me. Because he wasn’t paying attention, he accidentally ran a red light.
