Old Boy's Club

“Ok, I think I’ve got a lead on a book.” Glen said.

Tyler looked up at him. He was elbow-deep in financial statements, something he did every day.

Tyler gave Glen a sly look. “You’ve got a lead on a book or Mary has a lead on a book?”

Glen pointed at him. “What’s that? Why are you giving me research attitude?”

“Well, you two do seem to be spending a lot of time together, and she seems to come up with all these great ideas lately…”

“So you’re jealous and you think I crib her work?” Glen made a gesture threatening to grab Tyler’s sides.

“No!” Tyler grinned. “She’s cute, but she’s not your type. No, I just wanted to see how irritated I could get you before you resorted to tickle torture.” Tyler leaned back in his chair, smugly. “Any particular book?”

Glen grinned. “A handbook on Medieval games that talks about the best strategies for playing Nine Man Morris.”

Tyler shut the lid on his laptop and stood up. “Well, hell, if you’d said at the start of this it was for the secret chamber thing, we’d already be on the road.”

Glen raised his eyebrows. “Really want to get in there, do you?”

“Don’t you?”

“Yes, definitely. I just didn’t realize my project had made it to the top of your list.”

Tyler sighed. “Our project. This is our project, you ninny. I care about it as much as you do.”

Glen smiled. “Round one of the Love Wars: Tyler. Next up, Glen proposes a skinny dip in the loch.”

Tyler laughed and then shuddered. “Oh, man, don’t joke about that. It’s so cold out now, we’d have to break through ice. So, where is this book?”

“It’s in the Games Library of the Kilmory Gentlemen’s Club.” Glen said.

“Wow, seriously? How’d you unearth that?” Tyler said.

“Internet.”

“Are you telling me that the Kilmory Gentlemen’s Club has a website?”

Glen made a dismissive noise. “Please. They not only don’t have a website, there appears to be no email address or even a fax number for them. I’m not entirely convinced the telephone number goes anywhere. No, I turned it up on a rare books website, which tracks stuff in private collections.”

“Road trip!”
