I had to give it to Elijah, he was a sweet talker. I was finding it harder and harder to remember why I was resisting him.

Staring deep into his eyes, I moved closer. He sat completely still, letting me take the lead, which made me bolder. I wrapped one hand around the back of his thick neck, drawing his face down towards me, and pressed my lips against his.

We were both totally still for several seconds, our breaths mingling as our lips pressed together. Then I bit his lower lip, hard enough for him to make a little noise of surprise, and I deepened the kiss, sliding my tongue roughly against his. Shifting up to my knees, I moved closer to him, balancing one hand on his shoulder while the other continued to squeeze the back of his neck.

Elijah held himself back for several minutes – practically vibrating with the effort to be still—before his hands finally clamped down on my hips. I thought he was going to pull me onto his lap, but instead he shifted me backwards, maneuvering me until I was laying flat on my back on the cushions. He shifted over me, balancing his weight on his arms. He slid one leg between mine, the other on the outer edge of the couch. The hard bulge of his erection pressed against my thigh.

After we kissed for several long moments, he broke away and moved down a bit so he could shove my shirt up to my armpits, revealing my plain satin bra. He found my nipple, mouthing it through the fabric, the sensation traveling straight down to my core. I moaned softly, my hands reaching above me to hold onto the arm of the couch.

Elijah shifted again, intending to access the other breast I assume, and somehow rolled himself right off my couch. He landed partly on the coffee table, which buckled under his weight. Seven feet and probably three hundred pounds of muscle was just too much for the rickety coffee table that had graced my living room since I was fresh out of college. The cracking of the wood filled the room, followed by Elijah’s grunt of pain.

I sat up, seeing him laying on top of the splintered remains of my coffee table.

“Crap! Are you okay, Elijah?”

“Why do I get injured every time I visit your house?” he asked ruefully.

I hopped off the couch and reached out a hand to help him up. He moved to his feet with the grace of the athlete that he was, brushing off splinters of wood from the back of his body.

“Turn around, let me see if you hurt yourself.”

I lifted his shirt, examining the muscled expanse of his back. He shivered when I ran my hands over his skin, checking for any injuries. His skin was smooth and unblemished.

“I don’t think you have any splinters. Your shirt protected you from the worst of it.”

I met his dark eyes and made a decision. I was tired of denying myself – denying us both – of what we really wanted.
