Chapter 14

Francis took off his coke-bottle glasses and rubbed his eyes. He had been at it too long and things were starting to blur. His eyes and hands ached from working at the computer so long. He would rather be training in the caverns beneath the mountains with the other kids, but he knew what he was doing was important; they had to find Benjamin.

He had not known him long, but Francis knew Benjamin was different, someone special. He was a natural leader, even though he never acted like it. Kind of like one of those people who don’t know what their abilities are. That was what he noticed about Benjamin. The way the others, even the big kid, Roy Birch, followed him without question.
