Camille was exhausted, but the doctor and nurses had finally left after checking the baby and her to make sure everything was okay. It was now just her and her baby, her new little family under the watching eyes of her grandmother and sister.

The doors creeped open, and her father strolled in with Josephine. His face full of trepidation and Josephine with a look she couldn’t tell exactly how she was feeling.

Delane made his way to her side and leant to kiss her gently on the cheek, as she cradled her baby in her arms as she fed him from the bottle that the nurses had prepared before they left.

“He is beautiful, my darling.” Her father whispered softly, his voice returning to the same father she knew back in New York. “You have done so well.”

“Congratulations Camille.” Josephine said quietly as she peered down at the baby. “I knew you would make it through.”

Henri, Philippe and Blaise followed in next, rushing over, almost shoving Delane out of the way as they all peered down at her. Blaise, the awful fiancé, even seemed happy. Her face full of joy as she looked at the baby, and Camille wondered if this is what Blaise longed for.

She knew her father would pressure Philippe to produce an heir, with the wedding looming closer.

After all the fussing was done, it was Henri who asked everyone had been waiting for.

“What have you called him then?” He asked with a smile.

Camille had already thought about this long before he arrived in the world, before she knew he was a boy.

“Louis.” Camille said simply, “Louis Dumont.”

Ines gave a small clap. “What a fitting name. My grandfather was called Louis.”

Camille did not know it had any family significance; she liked the name, and that was that.

Nothing else in the world seemed to matter anymore. All that rage that built up inside her had evaporated the second she pushed Louis out into the world.

Camille finally felt peace for the first time in a long time.
