CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Lark

I’m hoping the morning after the night before won’t be as awkward as I worry. Link and Flash both showered last night and Shift is still sleeping, so that gives me a good chance to enjoy a shower and get ready before facing them both. I grab my clothes and toiletries kit and slip to the end of the hall unnoticed.

Seeing how these are barracks quarters, it’s not surprising the bathroom is communal. There are individual toilet stalls, a wall of urinals, a line of sinks, and behind the wall of sinks, a large, tiled area with showerheads spread along the wall.

I set my clothes on the long bench opposite the showerheads and ensure the fabric is out of reach from the spray.

If I’d been asked to bathe in this kind of a setting a few years ago, I would’ve been anxious and mortified. Any modesty I had was lost during the two years I spent in a goblin concentration camp.

Privacy is impossible with a hundred people stuffed in a building, sleeping two to a cot or on any inch of the floor not covered by someone else. Nakedness, sex, vomiting, voiding wastes… it all becomes a rather public event.

I think about the few times I allowed myself to have sex in that setting. I was never comfortable having eyes and ears taking notice.

Last night… having Link stand there, gripping his cock and rocking himself to completion while watching us was a different experience entirely.

So slecking hot.

Knowing how close the three are and the link they share, I’m assuming Flash realizes Link was present for at least part of our sexual encounter.

Link is understandably possessive of his brothers. I don’t want my affections to cause tension between them. I’m supposed to be helping them transition into modern life and assessing their intentions and allegiance toward the Crown of Dornte.

I clean up quickly, dress, and meet the two of them out in the kitchen.

Both men stand as I enter the room and I’m struck by the formality… or maybe that’s my imagination. Maybe they were deep in conversation, and I startled them. That could easily be the case.

“Good morning, lovely.” Flash’s stride is direct as he closes the distance. His gait isn’t as stilted and unsure as it was yesterday. With a graceful sway to his hips, he greets me, and brushes his lips over mine.

I swallow, breathing in his rich scent. He mentioned last night that for infiltration and intel gathering purposes, their designs included a mastery of sexual understanding.

He’s proven that point.

My insides tighten and I give myself an inward shake. From the chiseled cut of his physique to the heat in his coy smile to the scent awakening my cells, I believe it.

I meet his affectionate gaze with a warm smile and step back to keep things from escalating.

Because boy do I want things to escalate.

Flash winks and smiles at where he’s holding onto my wrist. Right. He can read me. That’s not embarrassing at all. Well, if reading me makes him stand this tall, I’ll deal with it.
