Fuck, If These Walls Could Talk

So far, the night had been everything Iâd imagined and more. Heâd been at FCF for several hours, each minute more pleasurable than the last. Yet, I felt like I had a cloud hanging over me. He wanted the property for whatever his family needed it for, and I didnât want to continue the night without settling a debt Iâd never even known I owed until last week.
âYour office is the next room weâre exploring?â he asked, tying the plush black robe I gave him to put on that matched mine. âDid you forget Iâve already been in here?â
âI didnât forget.â I could never forget that day. Motioning for him to take a seat, I went around my desk and pulled out the file folder that had been on my mind for days. I handed it to him, ignoring the curious expression on his face. âJust open it.â
He did, his eyes widening when he looked at me. âYou signed.â
âThe other day, you said you knew I would accept the offer,â I reminded him.
âI know.â He skimmed through the paperwork before tossing it aside and coming to my side of the desk. âThank you for accepting the offer.â He kissed the tip of my nose. âIt means a lot to me and my family.â
âYouâre welcome. I didnât want to sell it to you, but you seemed pretty hell-bent on getting your way.â I studied his eyes, noting that he did seem a little guilty about it. âYou never told me why you needed the property so badly.â
âItâs not my business to tell,â he said.
âBut youâre a Crowne. So family business includes you, right?â
âIt does.â Sitting on the edge of the desk, he took my hands in his. âBut, Jade, there is so much about my family thatâs not like other normal families. Whether Iâm heading a project or investment myself, rarely is Crowne business mine to tell. Lead or not.â
I observed our connected hands, my own guilty conscience creeping in between us. Taking a chance, I met his eyes, wanting to be as transparent as possible when I admitted, âI have to tell you something.â
Concerned eyes met mine. âWhat is it?â
I fumbled with the edge of his cotton robe, knowing I needed to just rip off the Band-Aid. âI-I think I know who your birth mother is.â
Nash froze, his eyes studying mine. âThatâs not funny.â
âIâm not joking.â
âHow could you know her when I donât even know her?â he asked.
âI didnât at first,â I confessed. âSince I was turning the property into a lounge and nightclub, I asked my girl, Lo, to look into the woman I was going to hire as the general manager. Lo is great at finding out information on people, and I asked her to look into Andreaâs background to make sure there werenât any red flags before I approached Andrea about moving to New York since my mom and grandmother are considering the move, too.â
âHer name is Andrea?â he asked.
