½ cup (4 ounces) boiling water plus ¾ cup (6 ounces) room temperature water

½ cup (4 ounces) mild lager, room temperature

1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

2 cups (11 ounces) bread flour

⅔ cup (3⅔ ounces) whole-wheat flour

1½ teaspoons table salt

¼ teaspoon instant or rapid-rise yeast
