“Mya, look at these. Do you think that they’re cute?” Daynah questioned, as we stood in the middle of Neiman Marcus’.
“Girl, yesssss!” Mya snapped her fingers.
“You see this shit?” Kells elbowed me.
I smirked. “Hell, yeah.”
It was funny watching Mya evolve. She once claimed that I was doing too much by buying her more than one pair of shoes, but now she spent thousands of my money like it was water. And letting her kick it with Daynah and her people had done nothing but create a monster. Shit, I had to now hide my money, because Mya stayed going in my pockets, trying to spend every fucking thing.
“Mari, I have to have these. I’d fucking slay those hoes at school. Giuseppe’s on the campus? Shiiiit,” she stressed.
I grabbed the bridge of my nose. “Get ‘em, Mya.”
“And that’s why I love you,” she cooed, running over with open arms. “Muah,” she rained kissed all over my face.
“Why you playing?” I hungrily kissed her, as I wrapped my arms around her waist.
“That’s right, girl. Show that nigga some gratitude,” Daynah teased.
“Got ya,” Mya winked at her, before wrapping her arms around my neck.
“Main,” Kells drawled. “I’m ‘bout tired of this shit. Can yall wait ‘til yall get home to do all that?”
Mya released me. “Boy, bye.” She waved him off.
Kells stepped over and whispered into my ear. “You done got caught up, and in way too deep. If I was you, I’d start plans to get the fuck outta Meeka’s house, before she kill the both of yall.”
I nodded. “Real.” Because I knew that my time at Meeka’s was coming to a close, but I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do after. Honestly, deep down I had to really ask myself what I truly felt for Mya. Did I care about her? Absolutely. Still, I didn’t know if that translated into me being ready to fully commit. If we moved out, I’d be giving her what I’d given no one else. A commitment. And I didn’t know if I was ready for all that, yet. And the wicked part of me enjoyed having the best of both worlds, while living with Meeka. I had my freedom, while keeping Mya on lock. But something told me that something this good wouldn’t last forever.
By the time we were done in Neiman’s, I’d recklessly spent five racks. But it was all good, because the game had been good to me. Especially, since Daynah’s people had come into the picture. Her daddy and uncle were the niggas to see, and through hanging around her, I’d been put down. She wasn’t into the streets at all, and had just graduated from college out in Cali, but her whole family was connected. And what’s crazy is that Kells stepped into the situation blindly, only choosing her. But had unwittingly joined a practically made family.
I smiled to myself. “I guess there are benefits of just doing what’s right.”
“What?” Mya asked, as she strolled beside me through the Galleria mall.
