2 Conclusions

The complex development of scintillation crystals growth by skull method allowed to invent the low-cost, platinum free technique, which can be efficiently employed both in laboratory and industrial production (the weigh of grown crystals can vary from few grams to hundreds of kilograms). Ability to control parameters of the crystal growth process, such as crystallization rate and shape of the crystallization interface provides the obtaining of high-quality scintillation crystals. Despite the grown ingots are polycrystals, their characteristics are comparable to those in single crystals obtained by the conventional methods. Therefore, the skull method is a promising alternative method to obtain scintillation crystals.
