Tumhara haath badha hai jo dosti ke liye

Mere liye hai vo ik yaar-e-gham-gusar ka haath

(Your hand that has been extended in friendship,

is like the hand of a dear friend, who alleviates my pain)

He concluded the poem by extending this invitation:

Tum aao gulshan-e-Lahore se chaman-bardosh

Hum aayen subh-e-Banaras ki raushni le kar

Himalaya ki havaon ki taazgi le kar

Phir is ke baad ye puchhen ki kaun dushman hai

(You come redolent with the fragrances of Lahore’s gardens;

we will bring the light from Banaras’s dawn

Let us bring the freshness of Himalayan air and then ask,

who is the enemy?)
