CHAPTER TWENTY

BAILEY

My dopey smile didn’t leave my face over the next couple of weeks. Every spare moment was spent with Harlow. There was no stopping us from exploring the insane sexual chemistry between us. We hadn’t worked our way up to full penetration yet, not where I was concerned. Harlow was taking no chances with hurting me. He’d turned up with an obscene amount of toys one night, all of varying shapes and sizes. Many hours had been spent in my bed as he used them to stretch me, delighting in how I came with the tiniest amount of prostate stimulation.

I, on the other hand, was less than impressed with my lack of control. But as long as it continued to keep Harlow happy and in my bed, I wasn’t going to worry about it.

It wasn’t only the arse-play that kept me satisfied. Harlow was happy to let me tell him if I was in the mood for him to be rough with me—which, let’s be honest, was more often than not—and for the first time, I was fully satisfied with my sex life.

It was Friday, and I was whistling as I left school. It had been another shitty week of whining students and repetitive marking, but the sun was shining, and I was heading straight to Harlow’s. Life was good.

As I went to open my car door, the hair on the back of my neck stood up as though someone was watching me. Glancing around, I immediately spotted a man with a scar on his cheek on the road outside the school. He stared at me through the struts of the blue metal fence surrounding the school premises. A similar build to me, the sunlight glinted off his chestnut hair. I didn’t recognise him as a parent, and something about his stony glare left me feeling unsettled.

Just then, my phone buzzed in my hand. Looking down automatically, I saw a photo message from Harlow showing his table covered in a variety of Chinese dishes. He’d captioned it, Hurry up before I eat all your favourites.

I tapped a quick reply, telling him I was on my way before remembering the strange man. I looked over to the fence, and my forehead furrowed in confusion.

There was no one there.

Feeling uneasy, I got in my car and pulled out of the car park. I peered all around as I turned onto the main road, but there was no sign of the man anywhere.

By the time I arrived at Harlow’s, I’d brushed off the encounter as a weird coincidence. The guy was probably just being nosy, then got bored and wandered off.

Harlow opened the door before I could knock, and the sight of the smile lighting his face had me grinning in response.

“You took your time,” he grumbled, nestling into my open arms.

“Sorry,” I said, leaning down to plant a sweet kiss on him. For a second, I debated whether I should mention the odd guy at school but pushed the thought away. It wasn’t a big deal, even if had left me feeling unsettled.
