Chapter Sixteen
Darius strolled through Princesses living room and out into her lush backyard, where he found his sister by the swimming pool. Lying on a lounge chair next to her, was Julian Jones. Darius was taken aback a little. His sister was engaged to marry Emil, and her business was her business. It wasn't that he was accusing her of anything, but Julian lying next to her, just didn't look right. He would mention that to her later, but right now, he was here on another mission.
"What a pleasant surprise!" Princess said, upon Seeing Darius. "To what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from my baby brother?"
"Nothing," Darius told her. He walked up to her, leaned over and kissed her on her cheek. "Just dropped by for a visit."
"I ain't got it right now," Princess said, shaking her head.
Darius laughed. "Why you think I always want something?"
"Cause that usually when you come to see me," Princess told him. "And you kissed me on the cheek too?"
"Why can't I just be coming for a visit?" Darius asked with a smile.
"What do you want, negro?" Princess asked. "Ain't nobody crazy."
"What's up, young buck?" Julian asked.
"Chilling," Darius said, shaking Julian's hand. Darius took a seat on the lounge chair on the other side of his sister. He leaned back on the lounge chair and kicked off his white Polo sandals. He pulled his Ralph Lauren sunglasses out of his white Polo shorts, placed them on his eyes and reclined.
Princess stared at her younger brother for several moments, before finally reclining once again. "Um-hum."
"So, what's been happening, young buck?" Julian asked.
"Nothing much," Darius answered.
"Where you gigging at right now?" Julian asked.
"No where. Getting ready to go to work at Energia Oil," Darius told him. "But enjoying my time until it's time to go to work."
"Putting that Harvard business degree to work, huh?" Julian asked.
"He should go back to law school," Princess interjected. "He's actually been accepted to Harvard Law."
Darius rolled his eyes.
"Oh, yeah?" Julian asked, lifting an eyebrow. "Congratulations!"
"I think I'm done with school for now," Darius told them.
"That is so stupid!" Princess said, frustrated about her brother's decision. "You have a golden opportunity to go to the best law school in the country, and you're throwing it away."
"I'm not throwing anything away," Darius told her. "My grades are always going to be the same. My score on the LSAT is not going to change. If I change my mind, I'll go then. But for right now, I'm done with school."
Darius didn't want to have this conversation with his sister, so he decided to change the subject and throw her a curve ball. "So, where's Emil? Haven't seen him in a while."
"Why are you asking about Emil?" Princess asked.
"He's going to be my brother-in-law, so I was just wondering what he's been up to," Darius told her. "Haven't seen him in a while. Julian, you seen him?"
Julian shook his head. "Naw, haven't seen that cat. You know, he's always busy doing other things.
