Chapter Seven

The little black dress fit my body like a glove, and showed off a modicum of cleavage, and barely reached mid-thigh. It had its own breast support, which I technically didn’t even need, so I only had a pair of lacey red panties on under it, that matched the dark bright red of my shoes with three-inch heels. The dress would be a little risqué for anywhere else, but I knew in a club what I had on was downright conservative.

I thought I looked damned good, and after the week I was surely ready for the weekend, but I wouldn’t begrudge things if any of the cases broke over the weekend either.

Point being, I was very excited about the night, and being able to let loose and enjoy myself after a horrific day. Not just because of Claire’s horrific story, but because I’d probably been moments away from death when Dianne saved my ass.

She hadn’t said so, but I suspected the real reason Apollo had escaped her was because if she’d taken the time to fight and take him down, I’d have died. My mates knew I’d been in a scrape, but I hadn’t told them just how close it was.

Steve said, “Damn, now I’m sorry I’m not going. You look amazing, Anise.”

I laughed, “You can come too.”

Then I blushed at the idea of dancing with both of my mates in public, at the same time, and decided it probably wasn’t a good idea.

He didn’t think so either, probably at the thought of watching me rub my body shamelessly up against Jason.

“Next time.”

I gave him a lingering kiss, and then joined Jason at the door.

He looked yummy in a tight collared shirt, and dress pants and comfortable black shoes.

We left and headed for the club, and we joined with Katie and Douglas at the end of the line.

Katie looked fantastic as usual, her long golden blonde hair, blue eyes, and sumptuous body that was in a sinfully tight red dress that strained to hold her assets. Add in her vivacious smile and naturally perky presence and she was drawing a lot of eyes to her. I still didn’t think I compared with my more lissome body, but the men’s eyes that found me instead of her made me doubt that assessment sometimes.

Next to her was an extremely handsome witch, although not as gorgeous as mine. He had short black hair, brown eyes, and rugged good looks. His shoulders were wide and he was definitely in shape, and he had on black pants and a charcoal gray shirt that showed off his defined muscles. He was also right around six foot four.

I gave Katie a hug and air kisses, then we took a moment to introduce our men to each other and to us. Katie hadn’t ever met Jason, and it was my first-time seeing Douglas. It was fascinating to watch, my usually pushy and blunt friend was an absolute kitten in his presence. Douglas had a strong presence, and a definite alpha personality with the high confidence to go with it.
