Chapter thirteen

Taryn

Time was no longer on my side and I had no choice but to go beg Lucifer for more time. Entering Hell, the smell of rotten eggs assaulted my nose, and I gagged. I never liked the smell of sulfur and couldn’t see myself ever getting used to it. The heat was the only thing I enjoyed about Hell; the fires burning around me as I walked the dark path leading to the throne room.

My head was held high as the two slimy demons opened the double doors. Their smell was far worse than the sulfur and I rushed to get past them. At least this time I knew to stay far away, otherwise I’d have to clean myself for a week to get the dripping, stinky slime off me.

Like he was true royalty, a red carpet sprawled out before me, leading to his large throne sitting on a raised dais. Not one demon was clothed, and it did nothing to make me want to look. Wrinkles, saggy tits, limp dicks, and everything I hated about demons were scattered around the room. They all looked up as I made my entrance wearing a long, see-through lace dress dipping low in the front. I looked regal in it, like the queen of Hell. The choker was the highlight, leather with rings to attach chains, which would make him think of all the things he could do to me if I was his. It sounded contradictory to my goal, but I knew Luci better than most. Despite all the rumors, he didn’t take what he wanted. He bargained for his desires, something I counted on.

“To what do I owe the pleasure, Taryn? You still have a day, or am I too tempting for you to wait any longer?”

Ignoring his attempt to make him feel like he had me, I started, “Oh, I just wanted to let you know I found out what it is you seek, besides me.”

He waved his hand and his voice boomed, “Out!”

I waited while the demons scrambled to leave and the doors shut behind them, leaving me alone with Lucifer. Holding my chin up, I told him what I knew, “The rare soul belongs to a forbidden creature, a cambion. One who contains the blood of a witch, at that.”

His eyes flashed, and he leaned forward, “I didn’t think you would figure it out. Where is my soul, Taryn? It wasn’t the two you sent me last night, though they were delicious.”

“I never said I caught it. You know as well as I do you gave me a next-to-impossible task. Well, for most demons. I have my ways and will secure it for you.”

“I sense a ‘but’ in that statement,” he replied, sitting back and crossing his arms. It was his bargaining stance, and I knew if I played it right, I’d win.

“As you know, the creature came from a forbidden mating and the records of such a being were lost long ago. I have no doubt I can get it, I just need more time.
