***Michelle***

Sarah turned out to be very sweet and kind. Her personality was very different from Diarus as she seemed to be more easy-going. She had made a special dish of chicken wings with fries and had begged Michelle to come downstairs to share a plate with her. Michelle had felt embarrassed as she joined Sarah at the dining table but soon forgot all about her embarrassment when she saw the delicious plate of food on the table.

Michelle took a bite of the chicken wings and wiped her mouth as the delicious sauce trickled down her chin.

“You seem very hungry. It is just like my brother not to feed his guest,” Sarah said as she looked at Michelle mournfully.

“I would not exactly call myself a guest. My movement here is very much restricted,” Michelle said as she continued to eat her chicken.

“That’s to be expected from Diarus. He does not take too kindly to strangers and we hardly have people come into town, so you are kind of a big deal,” Sarah said sadly. “Please excuse me.” Sarah walked into the kitchen and returned with a blueberry pie.

“Wow, does everyone in the town like blueberry pies?” Michelle asked.

“Nah, but Diarus told me they were your favorite,” Sarah said as she took her seat.

Michelle didn’t know how to react to that information. Diarus had remembered her favorite pie and had even told his sister to make one for her. The man confused her.

“Diarus was not being a gentleman; you should feed a lady before kissing her,” Sarah commented. Michelle could see two maids murmuring behind Sarah, as they glanced at her meanly.

Michelle sighed as she realized that there were indeed just a few people in Dove Valley who liked her. “I was served a meal earlier but I did not eat it because I was protesting my captivity. I guess my stomach won, or I can’t refuse your cooking. It's so delicious,” Michelle said happily as Sarah served her a piece of pie.

“Do you need more?” Sarah asked kindly and Michelle shook her head in response.

“Aren’t you eating?” Michelle asked. She would hate if she looked like a glutton but she couldn’t deny the deliciousness of the pie. Michelle wished she could live here forever. All she had to do was ship her grandmother over and she was sure all her worries would be forgotten, but wishes weren’t horses. Her presence in the town would come to an end once she got the signature and her visit here would soon become only a memory.

“No, I already ate before coming over. I only came to disturb my brother, but I think I only disrupted what I had hoped for so long,” Sarah said as her eyes danced with mischief.

“I don’t think you understand my presence here in Dove Valley. I am not your brother’s girlfriend. What you saw earlier was a mistake.”

“I know, I know,” Sarah said, not convinced, her smile evident. She rested her elbows on the kitchen counter and observed Michelle as she cleared her plate.
