She tilted her head, trying to see inside. “Torian, just how big is this house of yours?” The man really needed to consider downsizing. No person could possibly need this much space.

He ignored her question and asked Fabian, “Can you help?"

Fabian nodded.

"Good. She's going to need all the help she can get."

" She can hear you,” Sara snapped, glaring at him. And the last thing she wanted was to practice magic again. What if she burned down Torian's beautiful home?

"You can tap into your power now,” Torian said, turning to fully face her. “Back at the cabin, I opened a gateway—a door—inside your mind to your power. That was why you were able to start the fire."

"Yeah, and that door you opened led to a huge fire that destroyed the cabin.” She took a quick breath.

“I can't control the power. I can't make it stop.” The admission was hard.

He took her hands, rubbing her wrists lightly. “You can control it. You will control it.” His lips curved downward. “That fire wasn't your fault. I told you—"

"I know. The Dark One.” But she still felt responsible. She'd called the fire. She should have been able to force it back down once the dark wizard took control. But she'd been powerless. And utterly terrified.

"You have more untapped power than any witch I've ever met.” He was ignoring the avidly watching Fabian and focusing completely on her. “When we mate, when you Become, you will be unstoppable.

Your full power cannot be matched."

She didn't know what to say. She got that he thought she was some kind of super witch, but she didn't feel super. She just felt ... scared. What if she couldn't do it? What if, no matter how long Torian trained with her, she just couldn't use the magic?

She would be a failure, again.

And their worlds would be screwed.

Her gaze darted toward the open doors and the dark room that waited for her.

"I know you can do it,” he whispered.

And she knew she had to try. She couldn't just give up. Not with so many lives on the line. She nodded.

“Okay.” Exhaling on a hard breath, she muttered, “Let's go."

Sara marched toward the room, wondering what waited for her. And she wished that her knees would stop shaking.
