I pull in the driveway with my jeep and find that the girls are already moving their things inside. I had made them each a copy of my key to the house, not that I ever lock my door anyways.

What can I say? The pack guards are constantly patrolling the area. I guess I never felt the need to secure my house. But now that I fit the victim profile of the serial killer that has been terrorizing the coast of Massachusetts, I guess I need to be more vigilant.

But having the girls here definitely makes me feel safer.

“Hey roomies!” I yell as I walk through the front door. The girls all assigned themselves a bedroom and are unpacking as I come in.

“Hey where have you been?” Tayla asks.

“I stopped by my parents, and then I went to find Chase and Caleb at the pack training grounds. I wanted to let them know that you guys will be staying with me for awhile.”

“How is your fine brother doing these days?” Selene asks.

“Well, he wants to make sure you aren’t going to cause trouble for the pack while you’re here.” Tayla, Scarlett and I all chuckle as Selene puts her hands on her hips and acts offended.

“What exactly does he think I’m going to do? Your bro may be hot as hell, but he’s so paranoid.”

“Well, in his defense, the last time Alina had a party, he witnessed you putting a date rape drug in one of his warriors drinks,” Scarlett says, and we all laugh because it wasn’t a date rape drug like Chase thought.

“Oh that wasn’t a date rape drug. The guy was getting fresh with me.”

“Oh there’s that word again,” Scarlett interjects.

Selene waves her hand dismissively. “Oh whatever. Anyways, he kept grabbing my ass. So I gave him my pink potion. Pink bubbles coincidentally came floating out of any opening in his body. And I do mean any opening.”

“Well apparently you used a little too much. Chase said the guy was spitting bubbles for two days,” I laugh.

“Yeah, I guess I over did it. I’m still trying to get the ingredient quantities down path on some of these potions. But we can all agree he deserved it. Even Chase must see that.”

We all laugh and Selene pours us each a glass of champagne that she grabbed from the refrigerator.

“Uh, should we be celebrating? I mean, there’s a serial killer on the loose, and four women are dead,” Tayla says.

“Well, let’s celebrate the fact that we are rooming together, keeping each other safe, and going to find this fucker one way or another,” Selene toasts as she lifts her glass.

“Here, here,” the rest of us join in as we all clink our glasses.

“Okay, I hate to drink and run, but I have a date tonight,” I say.

“Please tell me it’s not Lincoln. My mom told me she tried to break your mate bond and it didn’t work.” Tayla and Scarlett don’t seem surprised by Selene’s statement, so she must have filled them in.
