“A DATE!” PETE let out a hoot of laughter. “I thought you were going to talk to them about trespassing!”

Cole shrugged. He hadn’t exactly gotten around to that conversation.

“Did you find out why they were dancing in the woods?” Pete asked.

“Not really. I mean, they were talking about herbs for spells when I walked in so–”

“Spells? You mean like witches and magic?” Karl asked.

“I’m not sure.” Cole had no intention of telling them he was pretty certain Lara and Jessica had set a sex spell on their sister, Megan.

Good thing he didn’t believe in magic. Otherwise, he’d think the spell was the reason his cougar was all riled up.

“Is that why they were naked in our woods?” Dan asked.

“We didn’t exactly get around to talking about the dancing naked part.”

“What? That was the whole point, Cole!” Max exclaimed. “You were supposed to get them to stop trespassing.”

“Yeah, well, that’s the problem.”

“What?” Max asked.

“My cougar’s convinced she’s his mate, so he doesn’t think of it as trespassing. In fact, my cougar likes that she’s been on hs territory.”

Max groaned. “Well, is your cougar right?”

Cole shrugged. No way was he admitting that he’d been about to talk to her about the trespassing when he’d blurted out a request for a date instead.

Yeah.

Either she was his mate or the sex magic thing had really worked.

He definitely preferred the mate theory.
