Chapter 6

“Azazarel!” I bellow as I walk into the caves, not caring who I disturb. It is a long walk from the cave entrance to my rooms, and I do not want to wait that long to tell him of my news. Stalking through the hallways, people scatter from me, especially the slaves. The sight makes me smile and almost makes me want to take one or two of them to use how I will until the edge is taken off.

“Yes, my Lord?” The high nasal voice of my second in command materializes next to me. I hate when he does that and wish that it was a skill I had. He can appear wherever he wants, except for my rooms and any place protected by the Guardians.

“Don’t do that!” I snap. “We have a situation and need to make plans.”

“Tell me, my Lord, and I am yours to command,” the thin man says. His human form is thin with a beak-like nose and a hairless body. But his demon form is a red slender beast, with lizard-like feet and red bat-like wings. Golden horns peek from his hair, giving him the look of the devil.

“She is here! In Moberley!”

“How, my Lord? We have spent three years looking everywhere for her, and now she appears?” the nasally voice grates on my ears.

“One of the useless requests, as you called them, came through. She is searching for the Lost City of Missouri.” I smile as I look around the halls, “Little does she know that the city isn’t lost at all, just hidden from prying eyes.”

“Now that she is here, what is your plan?”

“I gave her directions that loosely follow where we are. Is the mine entrance still covered with the metal sheeting?” My mind spins with thoughts of what I can do with that pale flesh of hers and how to obtain it without repercussions from the humans and Guardians.

“Yes, My Lord.”

“Good.” A plan is emerging. “Please remove it immediately. I don’t know how much time we have before they come exploring. Then, meet me in the hall with your cloak.”

“As you wish.” Azazarel nods and is gone in the blink of an eye. Now to get Menimo. His skills will be useful if Rose and her Guardian arrive as I hope.
