PROMISE BREAKER
SAINT
Iâd been giving myself a pep talk the entire drive over to the office from Ivyâs house. Twenty minutes of nonstop psychobabble, where I oscillated between being the worst friend on the face of the earth, who had performed the most inexcusable act, to trying to convince myself that I hadnât done anything wrong and that Ivy and I were two consenting adults who deserved to be happy.
Even if it is with my best friendâs little sister.
Oh God, I was definitely the worst, and Davey was never going to forgive me.
When I walked into the office kitchen for some coffee, Davey was already there along with a couple of employees.
âMorning, brother,â he said, his long blond hair pulled into a man bun that I swore only he could pull off. âYou look like hell,â he said easily before narrowing his eyes. âWhatâd you do last night?â
âNothing.â I tried to sound nonchalant, but he knew me better than almost anyone, so lying was hard.
âDidnât you have that volunteer thing with Ivy?â
Acting like Iâd forgotten all about it already even though it was seared into my brain like fire from a hot poker, I gave him a nod. âOh yeah. Lots of kids. So many kids.â I concentrated on pouring some creamer into my coffee and stirred it with a tiny straw.
âYou were Santa, right? Have any pictures?â He was teasing me now, and that little change in his voice calmed me down.
If Davey knew what had happened last night, the last thing heâd be doing was joking around.
I racked my brain for a second before answering. âI actually donât have any pictures. All the kids do though. There was a photographer there.â
âWhat was Ivy doing? How is she? I feel like I havenât seen her in months.â
Your sister is a fucking angel who tastes like sin, and Iâll never get enough of her pussy in my mouth.
âShe was an elf,â I said.
The hottest elf Iâve ever laid eyes on. You should have seen her ass in that skirt. Hell, you should have seen her ass out of that skirt.
âWhat?â Daveyâs voice broke through my thoughts, and for a second, I thought I might have said all of that out loud. Pretty sure I wouldnât be standing upright if I had though. âShe was an elf? HA! Please tell me you at least have a picture of that.â
âNah. Cori might,â I suggested like I couldnât be less interested, and he looked momentarily satisfied.
âI knew I should have swung by to see that shit in person.â He slapped a palm on my shoulder before letting me know that we had a call with our lawyer, Larry.
We were trying to wrap up this lawsuit before the end of the year. A guy out in California was trying to claim that weâd stolen his app idea, but there was nothing original about creating a dating app for successful individuals. Not to mention the fact that ours was locally based.
Unlike other apps, you couldnât update your location and try to meet someone while you were traveling.
