“I heard something about clearing out the storage room we never got to see. Maybe we’ll be moving something.” She looked at Willyn and frowned, then she loaded some eggs and a strawberry muffin, Willyn’s favorite, on a plate. She put it on the island and pulled out the stool, motioning for Willyn to take the seat. “You need to eat. I think you look worse than you did after your dream-trip.”

Willyn grunted and marched over. “Thanks, Empress.”

“Huh?”

“Never mind,” Willyn said. “Thanks for the food, Viv. I just didn’t sleep well.”

Kylie jumped on the perfect opening. “Did your guest have anything to do with that?” She wiggled her blonde brows over a glass of orange juice as she drank.

Willyn spared enough energy to give her an are-you-serious look, which only made Kylie reach over and pat her arm. “It’s okay. I’m holding out hope for you. And they say it’s like riding a bicycle.”

“Coming from someone who probably never went without long enough to forget,” Claudia said, ducking when Kylie scooped up some jelly with a finger and aimed for her face.

As always, they made Willyn laugh. She was still exhausted and anxious, but the day had begun to brighten. Just a bit. She held out her empty coffee mug to Kylie. “Why don’t you go stir up your little machine for me? I think you owe me a cup.” When the college girl took it with a wink, Willyn called over her shoulder, “And make it Jet Fuel.”
