Chapter 29

Delilah

“You can start by not treating me like I’m fragile and as if I can’t make my own decisions,” I growled. Kayden was really pissing me off. How dare he try to force me to reject him! I’d never been so turned on while being angry before, and I had lived with Vik, so that said something. My whole body was buzzing. I couldn’t tell if it was the attraction or the anger.

“I know you’re not fragile. And I’m trying to let you make this decision. I just want you to be sure,” he defended his stance once more. This argument was getting nowhere.

“Do you want me?” I was going to make this easy for him, and with a little luck, get exactly what I wanted out of it. I smirked.

Kayden ran his hand through his hair again, fisting it into a ponytail at the nape of his neck. “Of course, I want you.”

“Good.” I jumped at him, forcing Kayden to either catch me or let me fall. At this point, I wasn’t really sure which he would choose. He faltered for a second then wrapped his arms around my ass. I hooked my feet together at his back, trapping him to me. I pressed my warm center against his stomach and he groaned. His hair had fallen over his face at the sudden movement, so I took my time combing each piece out of my way before I claimed his lips.

When he winced, I remembered that he’d just been shot. “I’m so sorry, are you okay?” I tried to get down, but he held me still.

“I’m fine. But if you want to stop, I understand.” His voice was so sad, even while laced with need.

I could see now that I would be the one claiming him. He would certainly reciprocate in the future, but for now, this was up to me. I kissed him hard and deep, forcing his mouth open with my tongue. I wasn’t used to being dominant, but my anger took over. Kayden would do as he was told, and he would like it, I thought as our tongues tangled. I knew there were things we should discuss first, especially if I was going to get rough, but this time it was just going to be us. I could be wild, and if he couldn’t handle it, he would have to let me know somehow. I couldn’t help but think about Vik’s insistence that I have a safe word just in case.

“Here’s what’s about to happen,” I began, “You’re going to do as I say. If anything is too much or crosses a line, you’re going to use my safe word. Understood?” I rubbed myself against him as I spoke.

He nodded; his eyes glazed over with lust. “What’s the word?” From the look on his face, he may have been knee-deep in his own fantasies at this point.

I kissed him again, knowing that this particular word could kill the mood. I refused to let that happen.
