How could somebody look like an innocent angel during the day, but look sinfully sexy at night? The things that ran through my head at the sight of Odette walking in the club while wearing a tight little black dress, had me debating about taking her to the back to see what she has underneath or whisking her away before any other man could get the same idea. The moment I saw Sophie walk in behind her with an evil little smile on her face, had me scrapping both of those ideas as I was now seeing red.

Without saying a word, I left the table with Deirdre sitting there and walked over to Sophie. I needed her to get Odette and her friend out of here before any of the other vampires got a whiff of new mortals here.

I grabbed Sophie’s hand as I dragged her down the hallway in which she just smiled back. The little brat knew what she was doing by bringing Odette here. She wanted Odette to get jealous of seeing me out with Deirdre which I bet any money she told her it was a date.

The second Sophie and I turned the corner where no one could see us, I pulled her into my office and demanded to know what she was thinking. “Sophie, what were you thinking bringing them here?!”

Even though Sophie was a young witch, she had just as much power as her grandmother. Her eyes turned white while her hands had blue electricity building up in them. I wasn’t in the mood tonight to be electrified, so I stepped back and gave her a chance to explain.

“Listen you old ass vamp, don’t ever crowd me again or I’ll send your ass right to hell.” I rolled my eyes at her dramatics while she stared me down.

“Ok I am now terrified.” Sophie smiled at our banter while I was growing more impatient by the second. “Now why did you bring Odette and her friend here?”

“I was bored and wanted to go out.”

I mentally told myself not to kill the one witch I had left as an ally, but my willpower was running thin. “I’m not buying it. What are you up to?”

“Fine. Since you’re staying away from Odette and babysitting that god awful pest, it’s not helping us get any closer to being ahead of Athen. We need to get her memories back because she may know something if someone brought her back.”

“Isn’t there a spell that you can use?” I was hoping Odette could remember our past, that seeing me may bring back everything, but I was starting to feel unsure if she would ever get her memories back.

“You don’t think I tried that already? Whoever took her memories away, did a damn good job keeping it that way.”

It was news I didn’t want to hear, but we weren’t giving up either. “Keep trying.”

She ignored what I said and instead changed the subject. “Well I got better news, look what I was able to score.
