The pressure of the shower on my back was great and very relaxing, but I needed to get out before I fell asleep standing up. I knew that sleep would come quickly and I would welcome it with open arms. By the time I pulled the last blanket over myself and closed my eyes, all conscious thoughts had dispersed, and all I knew was the sweet blackness of sleep.

Getting out of bed the next morning was horrible, as I waited until the last minute, calculating the exact time I would need to take Milla for a run, come home, start the espresso machine, get changed, and leave for work. I was going to cut it close, but I needed the extra ten minutes to sleep. Milla had a mind of her own, though, and wanted to cross the road towards the café, but I wouldn’t let her. I ended up running an extra block to get all of her excitement out. I was looking forward to my coffee; it had been three days since I purchased the machine and I wasn’t craving the café’s blend, plus it was giving me a sufficient buzz. The downside was I was running out of clean mugs, but I was saving the environment.
